Steve Paranish is our current Fire Chief here in Hartsgrove Township. Steve has been with the Hartsgrove Township Fire Department since 2006, when he first joined as a Firefighter.
During his time with Hartsgrove, he was promoted to Lieutenant and then to Assistant Chief during his tenure. Steve is a Firefighter II, or (240 Hour Certified Firefighter). He also holds a Haz-Mat Tech certification. Steve is trained in Ice Water Rescue as well.
Steve says, "I am here to try and make a difference for the community." This is very important to him, as well as, the Fire Department as a whole. Steve says, "We have a fantastic group of men and women on the department that are here some times day in, day out doing chores, completing run reports and setting up for different activities that our department does throughout the year."
Steve enjoys hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle and side by side when he can. He also has a passion for singing and doing woodworking in his spare time. He very much enjoys helping others when he can. He says, "My door is always open!"
Steve also wants everyone to know that "I did not get into this profession for the rewards or the money. I got into Firefighting to give back to my community and our residents. I try to help those that need help regardless of what time of day, or night it may be. I am a very down-to-earth guy."
If you want to talk more to Steve, please send him an e-mail here at hartsgrovefirecommand@yahoo.com. Steve will be happy to get back to you by e-mail, or leave your phone number and he will call you back.
